Mitchell Plitnick

Mitchell Plitnick is Director of Education and Policy for Jewish Voice for Peace, based in the San Francisco Bay Area. JVP (www.jewishvoiceforpeace.org) is the largest Jewish peace organization of its kind in the US. Plitnick is an editor of Jewish Peace News; his articles have appeared in many publications, including Jewish Currents, Outlook, the UN Observer, Israel Insider, the San Francisco Chronicle, Znet and many others. Mitchell was born in New York City, raised an Orthodox Jew and educated in Yeshiva. He has been fascinated by and engaged in study of Israeli and Jewish history since he was a child.

Mitchell comes from a community which supports much of the radical Israeli right, giving him a unique and rounded perspective and understanding of a wide spectrum of views on Israel. Mitchell graduated with honors from UC Berkeley in Middle Eastern Studies, having written an honors thesis on Israeli and Jewish historiography.


About the 2004-05 Community Education and Dialog Series

CJPIP logoThe Committee for a Just Peace in Israel and Palestine (CJPIP) is a community-based organization founded to develop and support activities that further the cause of peace and justice in Palestine/Israel. The 2004-05 Community Education and Dialog Series, running September 2004 through May 2005, will bring distinguished speakers and cultural events to Chicago-area audiences, including Rashid Khalidi, Reem Nashashibi, Marianne Albina, Gila Svirsky, Mitchell Plitnick, Ali Abunimah, Norman Finkelstein, and Alisa Klein. See all planned events in this series. Series presenters will appear in Oak Park and elsewhere throughout the Chicago and suburban areas. Events are subject to change. Speakers do not necessarily represent the views of CJPIP.
