Israeli professor Yigal Bronner teaches South Asian Studies at Tel Aviv University and the University of Chicago. He is also an activist in Ta’ayush (Arab-Jewish Partnership) and a conscientious objector who sat in military prison last year for refusing to serve in the occupied territories. Bronner has been one of the leading voices in the campaign against the Israeli “Separation Wall.” [more details]

Michael Tarazi, a Palestinian-American lawyer, is a legal advisor to the Palestinian Authority Ministry of State for Jerusalem Affairs. He provides legal advice on a wide array of issues facing Jerusalem, including Israeli settlements and refugees. Prior to taking his current position, he was a legal advisor to the PLO Negotiations Affairs Department. [more details]

Joel Beinin has taught Middle East history at Stanford University since 1983. His research and writing focuses on workers, peasants, and minorities in the modern Middle East and on Israel, Palestine, and the Arab-Israeli conflict. Lisa Hajjar, a sociologist, is an associate professor in the Law and Society Program at the University of California-Santa Barbara. She is author of the 2005 book, Courting Conflict: The Israeli Military Court System in the West Bank and Gaza. [more details]

Kathleen Christison worked as a political analyst with the CIA for 16 years, dealing with the Middle East for eight years. Since resigning from the CIA in 1979, she has been a freelance writer specializing in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. Bill Christison served as a National Intelligence Officer and as director of the CIA’s Office of Regional and Political Analysis before retiring in 1979. He writes regularly for CounterPunch.org on issues of U.S. foreign policy and was a contributor to The Politics of Anti-Semitism. [more details]

Nadia Hijab is an author and expert on the Middle East and Senior Fellow at the DC-based Institute for Palestine Studies. She also serves as co-chair of the US Campaign to End the Israeli Occupation. She co-authored Citizens Apart: A Portrait of Palestinians in Israel. Hijab worked with the United Nations from 1989 to 1999. [more details]

A documentary film screening, co-sponsored by Chicago Palestine Film Festival (www.palestinefilmfest.com). Arna Mer Khamis was a legendary Israeli anti-occupation activist. Born into an Israeli Jewish family, she married a Palestinian Arab. Arna founded a children’s a theatre group in the Jenin refugee camp. Five years after Arna's death from cancer in 1995, her son returned to the camp to discover what had happened to “Arna’s Children,” to find they had become militants and martyrs. [more details]
