Sensitively photographed by Beverly Duperly Boos, the exhibit transports us into the reality of the Middle East, allowing us to walk alongside Israelis and Palestinians in their day-to-day lives. Large portraits, integrated with personal stories, provide a unique window into the conflict that both peoples endure. These accounts reveal how individual resolve and belief in human dignity can keep one’s heart open to new possibilities. Viewers are challenged to see beyond stereotypes into a deeper, more compassionate understanding of both peoples. Through this experience, we are moved to take these perspectives into our own backyard, to better understand our relationships, community, and the world.

This compelling photographic exhibition is traveling across the United States and will be housed at Gallery 37, 66 Randolph Street, Chicago, October 28–December 27, 2005. For more information, visit www.openingoftheheart.org.
