Chicago peace activists bring Nakba Awareness to JUF 2008 Israel Solidarity events

Events highlighting the 60th anniversary of Israel's founding during the month of May, 2008, provided the opportunity for Nakba-Awareness outreach and education, reaching thousands of attendees and passersby. Peace activists assembled as a counter-presence at three events sponsored by the Jewish United Fund of Metropolitan Chicago, representing area organizations including the Committee for a Just Peace in Israel and Palestine, Jewish Voice for Peace  Chicago, American Friends Service Committee, and Church Network for Education on Palestine.

These photos were taken at the Israel Solidarity Day/Walk With Israel, held at McCormick Place on Sunday, May 4, 2008. Four days later on Thursday, May 8, activists gathered again with banners at JUF-sponsored events at Daley Plaza (noon) and  Northwestern University's Welsh-Ryan Arena (evening).
